Temperate Australasia
Description
Differs from the sea sweep in having dark black bands across the body and a less strongly forked tail. It is less active than the other sweeps and tends to remain close to caves and ledges in the reef, sometimes retreating within. This species can be caught by line but is not often eaten because of its poor flavour.
