Distribution

Temperate Africa, Tropical Indo-Pacific


Description

Pale bluish-grey body with dark scale margins, large elongate yellow patch high on side, tail base with large black spot, and usually dark stripe from snout through eye. Similar species P. barberinus (Dot-and-dash Goatfish) and P. macronemus (Long-barbel Goatfish) have longer black stripe from snout to rear 2nd dorsal fin.
