Description
Appearance of a pineapple, covered in spines and with a red luminescent organ on lower jaw light-emitting bacteria used at night to detect and possibly attract prey. Juveniles are found in comparatively shallow water in caves on reefs and also sometimes enter estuaries. Adults generally inhabit deep water, where they are occasionally trawled.
